Alberta Enterprise Group calls for Northern Gateway Pipeline approval

EDMONTON: The Alberta Enterprise Group is issuing the following statement regarding the upcoming from the Government of Canada on Northern Gateway Pipeline:

With the federal government’s imminent decision, the Alberta Enterprise Group is declaring its support for the Northern Gateway Pipeline project and urging the Government of Canada to continue to work with stakeholders to move forward and approve this important project that is critical for the future of our national energy security. The Joint Review Panel conducted a thorough and rigorous review and clearly found that this project is in the best interest of the country.

Opening new markets for Canadian energy products is essential to ensuring our ongoing economic success for Alberta, British Columbia, and the nation. We believe, fundamentally, that Canadians are capable of building the Northern Gateway Pipeline in a way that fully involves and engages aboriginal communities and other groups while meeting the highest environmental standards.

We agree and believe that economic and environmental interests can be balanced when all parties come to the table and work together in a thoughtful and productive manner. We look forward to the government making the right choice and guaranteeing that all Canadians will benefit for now and years to come. We urge the Government of Canada to move quickly to approve this important project.
