Bill C-235 Prairie

The Alberta Enterprise Group (AEG) Response to the Passing of Bill C-235

In the autumn of 2022, on your behalf, AEG opposed federal bill C-235 "An Act respecting the building of a green economy in the Prairies". AEG stood up for Alberta's businesses by arguing that not only was the bill undermining areas of provincial jurisdiction but also that it was likely the bill would add to rather than alleviate the regulatory burden or costs of compliance of the numerous federal green regulations and programmes already being implemented in the Prairies.

From Home to Homelessness

With house prices rising and homeownership becoming increasingly impossible for many Canadians, it’s a very convenient time for the Prime Minister to suddenly announce that “it’s not his job.” The rising cost of housing in Canada has reached a crisis point. If you ask the general public who’s to blame, you get a variety of answers. In a recent survey, 40 per cent readily pointed to the federal government, 32 per cent point to the provincial government and 6 per cent blamed municipal governments. The newly minted ministers at the Liberal Cabinet Summit declared housing a top priority but offered no solutions.

AEG Podcast, Episode 5: Empowering Alberta’s Youth: The Ten Peaks Innovation Alliance’s Story

The AEG podcast features an interview with Dagmar Knutson, the founder of 10 Peaks Innovation Alliances. Dagmar's non-profit organization aims to educate Alberta's youth on technology, innovation, inclusivity, energy, environment, and career opportunities. The organization's inspiration came from her son's lack of knowledge about the energy industry in Alberta. Dagmar describes the organization's events, such as an annual student conference, case competitions, micro-grants, entrepreneurship camps, and innovation webinars. 10 Peaks is currently partnering with the University of Calgary's Hunter Center for entrepreneurship, and it is seeking additional partnerships for financial stability. The organization strives to provide balanced conversations about sustainability and energy transition to inspire and engage students in the fast-changing world of technology and innovation.
