About Kris:
Kris Liivam, President of Arctic Fire Safety Services, has been involved in safety consulting since 2000. During this time he has worked for such organizations as Cancarb, TransCanada Pipelines, Honeywell, and KEYera. As well, Mr. Liivam taught part time at the Medicine Hat Community College, in the University of Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Certificate Program. Kris Liivam achieved the Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation in 2009 and also completed the University of Alberta OHS Certificate Program in 2010. In 2015, Mr. Liivam identified the perils of wildfire and the damages caused to the community. Knowing the resources available in the private sector for emergency response he engaged in advocacy for private sector response and end up purchasing 2 fire trucks to assist with wildfire emergencies. Since then, Arctic Fire Safety has been engaged in wildland urban interface fires in Fort McMurray, Waterton, High Level, La Crete, Brazeau County, County of Yellowhead, Northern Lights County, Grande Prairie County, Peavine Metis Settlement, and most recently the City of Yellowknife. Arctic Fire Safety has a fleet of 8 fire trucks and a paid on call staff of 30 firefighters.
