About the Speakers
Honourable Minister Myles McDougall
Myles McDougall was sworn in as Minister of Advanced Education on May 16, 2025.
Prior to his service as an elected official, Myles had a varied and international career spanning Europe, Latin America and Canada.
He worked as an economist, corporate executive, technology entrepreneur, management consultant, advisor, and teacher, accumulating valuable experience across diverse regions and sectors.
Myles pursued public office to share his expertise and passion for public service. He is committed to working tirelessly to represent his constituents and make Alberta a better place to live, work and raise a family.
On May 29, 2023, Myles was elected to represent the people of Calgary-Fish Creek in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
Dr. Jack Mintz
Dr. Jack M. Mintz is a renowned economist and public policy specialist, currently serving as the President’s Fellow at the University of Calgary’s School of Public Policy. His career highlights include founding and directing the School from 2008 to 2015, and holding distinguished fellowships at institutions such as the MacDonald-Laurier Institute and C.D. Howe Institute. Dr. Mintz has chaired significant panels, including the federal government’s Technical Committee on Business Taxation, which led to major corporate tax reforms in Canada. He has also served on numerous corporate boards, consulted for international organizations like the World Bank and IMF, and was a visiting professor at prestigious law schools. Among his accolades are membership in the Order of Canada, the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal, and recognition as a global expert on corporate taxation by Who’s Who Legal.
