At Alberta Enterprise Group (AEG), many of our members are regular readers of Alex Epstein – a bold, unapologetic voice for energy literacy and common-sense policy.  His recent article, Canada is Squandering the Greatest Opportunity in its History, struck a chord with me and I am sure our members.

In today’s polarized climate, Epstein’s combination of critical thinking, data-driven analysis, and moral clarity is refreshing and essential.  Coming from a resident of California, his message about Canada’s potential and missteps in energy policy is particularly powerful.

Epstein highlights what many of us already know: Canada has the world’s third-largest oil reserves, world-class environmental standards, and the potential to become a global energy powerhouse. Yet, we continue to undermine that potential with short-sighted, anti-development policies that weaken our economy, alienate key regions, and diminish our international influence.

Epstein’s belief is that Canada doesn’t need to apologize for producing energy – it should lead with confidence.   Our energy industry is an engine of prosperity, innovation, and national unity.  The opportunity is ours to seize, if we have the courage to act.

We encourage all Canadians to read Epstein’s article and reflect on the question: Are we building on our strengths – or burying them?
