As Stampede season begins and Alberta embraces its western roots – with classic country playing on more radios and the scent of barbecues and hay bales in the air – it’s the perfect moment to reflect on the people who truly keep this province running. Not just during Stampede, but every week of the year, it’s the hard-working men and women who build, fix, and move who keep Alberta strong. Amid the sound of rodeo gates swinging and fiddles playing, there’s another rhythm echoing across the province: the steady, proud sound of hard work.

At Alberta Enterprise Group (AEG), we’re taking a moment this week to recognize and celebrate the people who keep our province moving forward. The men and women who build, repair, transport, and create – those who roll up their sleeves and do what needs to be done. Their dedication and drive are at the heart of what makes Alberta strong.

They’re welders, electricians, rig hands, truck drivers, millwrights, operators, and tradespeople of every kind.  They don’t often make headlines, but they make Alberta run.  They’re the unsung heroes of our economy and the backbone of the industries our AEG members represent.

As the great country band Alabama once said in their classic tribute to working people:
“Hello Detroit auto workers, let me thank you for your time…”
It’s a song that still rings true here at home.  Take a moment and give it a listen, than, as you are out stampeding across Alberta or just enjoying the summer, thank a worker.

To all of Alberta’s builders and doers: thank you.  Your grit, pride, and work ethic keep this province moving forward – and we see you.
