Is Europe really the model Canada should follow?
This in-depth article questions the wisdom of Canada aligning too closely with Europe’s high-tax, heavily regulated, and underperforming economy. Drawing on OECD data, it highlights Europe’s falling productivity, stubbornly high unemployment, soaring energy costs, and lag in innovation compared to the U.S. It warns that adopting European-style policies could weaken Canada’s competitiveness and damage vital U.S. relations.

While trade with the EU offers opportunities, the author argues Canada’s path forward must be built on a stronger, uniquely Canadian model – one that can compete globally without imitating failing systems.
