This past week, over 2,000 professionals from across the construction, design, and real estate industries came together in Calgary for BUILDEX Alberta. This 2-day trade show was a vibrant showcase of innovation, collaboration, and industry leadership. Events like this remind us how essential these sectors are to Alberta’s growth and to Canada’s economic foundation, however, they also serve as a reminder that we must actively address the challenges hampering their success, including workforce shortages, regulatory delays, and rising construction costs that impact competitiveness and investment.
This year’s event was proudly supported by ICBA Alberta (Independent Contractors and Businesses Association of Alberta), an AEG member. ICBA Alberta hosted the Keynote Leaders’ Breakfast Panel, where industry executives shared insights on the challenges shaping Canada’s construction landscape.
ICBA Alberta consistently showcases strong thought leadership, delivering clear, data‑driven analyses of Canada’s construction economy and championing policies that foster job creation and growth. Explore their latest economic insights and advocacy initiatives here.
At AEG, we’re proud to stand alongside organizations like ICBA that lead by example, bringing people together, encouraging open dialogue, and driving forward the industries that build our communities. Let’s take a moment to remember how important these businesses are to Alberta.
