BY SHONDELL SABAD, SENIOR STRATEGIC ADVISOR AT THE ALBERTA ENTERPRISE GROUP
The Alberta Enterprise Group (AEG) extends its warmest congratulations to Nathan Cooper on his appointment as Alberta’s new Senior Representative to the United States, based in Washington, D.C. This role is essential in advancing Alberta’s economic and diplomatic priorities with our most important trading partner, and we are pleased to see a seasoned and principled leader take on this responsibility.
We also wish to thank James Rajotte for his outstanding service over the past 4.5 years. During his tenure, Mr. Rajotte built strong relationships with over 80 U.S. policymakers, significantly raising Alberta’s profile in Washington. While much of his focus was rightly placed on Alberta’s energy interests, including hydrogen, carbon capture, and renewables, he also championed trade diversification, agriculture, innovation, and investment attraction. His work helped ensure Alberta’s voice was heard not only in energy corridors, but across a broader range of sectors critical to our provincial economy.
As Nathan Cooper steps into this new role, AEG and its members look forward to supporting his efforts to build upon this strong foundation. We see an opportunity for Mr. Cooper to continue to broaden the scope of Alberta’s engagement as the economy here in Alberta continues to grow and diversify.
AEG believes this role is more vital than ever. Alberta needs a strong, unified presence in Washington that reflects the full diversity and dynamism of our economy. We’re confident Nathan Cooper will rise to the challenge.
