In a recent note, Peter Diamandis shared the remarkable results of an immune-rejuvenation therapy he received from Throne Biotechnologies, an emerging medical approach showing early signs of reversing aspects of biological aging.

Over two days, Diamandis had 1.27 billion of his immune cells extracted, “re-educated” alongside cord blood stem cells, and reinfused. Within weeks, his inflammation markers dropped 45%, his stem-cell function rose from 64% to 90%, and his naïve T-cells more than doubled to levels typically seen in teenagers.

More compelling were the broader clinical results presented by Throne’s CEO, Dr. Yong Zhao: ALS patients walking again, Type 1 diabetics off insulin, and autoimmune conditions like Crohn’s and psoriasis reversing after a single treatment. These outcomes are early, but they are real, pointing to a future where we don’t just manage chronic disease, we meaningfully slow or reverse it.

Why This Matters for Alberta

At Alberta Enterprise Group, we consistently advocate for ideas and policies that strengthen the province’s long-term competitiveness. Health innovation is one of the most overlooked economic opportunities, and one with massive implications.

  1. A Healthier Workforce That Stays On‑Track Longer

Alberta’s small and medium-sized businesses depend on a strong, engaged workforce. Therapies that delay age-related decline or reduce chronic disease could keep people working longer, reduce absenteeism, and extend careers at a time when labour shortages remain a top concern.

  2. Lightening the Load on Alberta’s Healthcare System

Chronic conditions drive the majority of healthcare costs. If immune-rejuvenation therapies continue showing long-lasting benefits, some cases improving for a decade or more, the downstream economic impact could be enormous. Fewer hospital visits, fewer long-term prescriptions, and greater independence for aging Albertans.

  3. Positioning Alberta as a Leader in Health Innovation

With world-class universities, AI expertise, and a growing life-sciences sector, Alberta is well positioned to attract research, investment, and commercialization opportunities in longevity and regenerative medicine, especially if Canada builds a balanced, innovation-friendly regulatory framework.

A Forward-Looking Opportunity

Today, these therapies are expensive and accessible to only a few. But so was genomic sequencing 20 years ago. Costs fall. Access expands. Innovation compounds.

At AEG, we believe Alberta should embrace emerging technologies that help people stay healthier, live longer, and contribute more fully to our communities and economy. Better health isn’t just a personal benefit; it is a competitive advantage for the entire province.
