Bill C-235 Prairie

The Alberta Enterprise Group (AEG) Response to the Passing of Bill C-235

In the autumn of 2022, on your behalf, AEG opposed federal bill C-235 "An Act respecting the building of a green economy in the Prairies". AEG stood up for Alberta's businesses by arguing that not only was the bill undermining areas of provincial jurisdiction but also that it was likely the bill would add to rather than alleviate the regulatory burden or costs of compliance of the numerous federal green regulations and programmes already being implemented in the Prairies.

Do we seriously want Mark Carney as Prime Minister?

Mark Carney, a former advisor to the previous Prime Minister, has emerged as the successor for Leadership with the Liberal Party, despite concerns over his "elitist" views and lack of experience in managing an economy during a global financial crisis. Carney's policies appear to be a continuation of his predecessor's, with no original ideas for stimulating the Canadian economy. The country's economic challenges remain unaddressed, and Carney's ability to negotiate with international leaders, such as President Trump, is uncertain.

AEG Podcast, Episode 6: Energy Literacy and the Challenges of the 21st Century

In this AEG Podcast between Catherine and Brad Hayes about energy and energy transition. Brad explains that most Canadians are not energy literate as energy has always been available to them, and people only become more informed when there is a shortage of energy. However, due to recent energy shortages in European countries, people are becoming more aware of the complexities of energy. Brad emphasizes that providing adequate energy should be the top priority as nothing can be achieved without adequate and affordable energy. Government policies should ensure adequate energy supply at the top of the list, with environmental protection coming in second. Brad believes that the term energy transition is a loaded term, and the sensible approach is to transform our energy delivery system from a certain mix to a different mix in the future. Brad also suggests various sources to obtain factual information on energy, and Catherine adds that we should always question what we are being told.
