The Alberta Enterprise Group (AEG) strongly opposes Bill C-372, the Fossil Fuel Advertising Act

AEG strongly opposes Bill C-372, the Fossil Fuel Advertising Act, tabled in Parliament by NDP Member of Parliament from Timmins-James Bay, Mr. Charlie Angus. The Bill proposes to prohibit the advertisement of Canadian oil, gas, and coal. Advertising in the Bill is loosely and broadly defined to include any demonstration of the positive aspects of using oil and gas even if it is verifiable fact, such as the positive economic contribution to Canada’s economy and benefits towards Indigenous reconciliation. Penalties for violation of the Bill include fines upwards of $1.5 million or jail time.

Politics at its Worst!

We have witnessed heated election campaigns before, but seldom with the level of vociferous anger witnessed during our recent provincial election. Many voters are feeling betrayed by the country they love and discarded from the information highway. But when does reasonable anger end and irrational hatred begin? We witnessed both during this provincial election. Some have even related it to occurrences that appeared during WWII.

AEG Podcast, Ep. 10: The Alberta International Air Show: More Than Just an Air Show

In this episode of AEG’s podcast, host Catherine Brownlee welcomes Richard Skermer, a representative of the Alberta International Air Show, to discuss the event’s mission and goals. Richard explains that the air show is not just a typical barnstormer event, but rather a conference and networking center for the aerospace industry with a rodeo as a backdrop. He emphasizes the importance of attracting human capital to the region for economic diversification and the need to showcase Alberta as a dynamic and forward-thinking destination. Richard also discusses the STEAM initiative and the importance of incorporating arts into STEM education. He explains that the success of the air show is measured in metrics and aligning with corporate and government objectives, making it an investment opportunity for sponsors rather than just a weekend event. The air show is set to take place on an August long weekend this year.
